I first got involved with The 5x50 Challenge in its very first year back in 2012, when a rather persuasive and inspirational lady called Kelly Mason asked me to help promote it - which I happily did. Before I knew it, I was a fully fledged member of the core team and quickly became consumed with promoting the challenge to encourage others to get more active. Fast forward 5 years, (and it really does feel someone hit the Fast Forward button) and I have completed all 5 Challenges to date and also Married the rather inspirational Kelly Mason!
When I first got involved with the 5x50 Challenge I had decided to make an attempt to get fit. Bearing in mind I was 45 years old and hadn't done any form of exercise, ever, other than the odd (bad) game of golf. I was a pretty hopeless case, or so I thought. With the help of the 5x50 Challenge I got the running bug and steadily built up from a 5K walk / jog round the housing scheme to running my first Marathon within 11 months. I haven't looked back.
As part of the 5x50 core team, I am delighted to continue to help others get involved with this fun, exciting and motivational challenge to improve their general fitness and well-being. This year, as I turn 50 I'm planning another Marathon in June, which would never have been possible without the 5x50 Challenge. Safe to say 5x50 has much to answer for. It has changed my life for the better and thousands of others over the years too.
Have you signed up for your own 5x50 Challenge? There's a Challenge starting soon.
