Professional Accountant, married with 2 kids aged 8 & 7 living in the West End of Glasgow.
Like most people, when I was younger, I did quite a bit of sport but fell out of the habit of this when family came along. I badly needed a challenge to motivate me to get back into being active and 5x50 gave me the chance to do this along with spending time with some great people and making some new friends along the way.
Little did I know back in February 2012 that this challenge would grow the way it has — when Kelly mentioned the idea to me then I don't actually remember ever agreeing to take the challenge let alone become the project manager! But that is what this challenge is all about — it grabs you in a most unexpected way and makes you realise that exercise can be fun.
No matter your schedule you can fit it in along with raising some money for some great charities. If you stick with it the benefits you feel will be so worth all of the effort.
The biggest pleasure I get from being involved is the effect this challenge has on both my own kids and others — they quickly realise that taking exercise regularly should be normal and something you should make a priority — if we can change the mindsets of children our future fitness will definitely be better.
Go on get involved!
